Applying for a position of trust

Applying to a position of trust at HTS always starts with sending in your candidacy to HTS’ Nomination Committee. The Nomination Committee’s job is to interview the candidates and nominate the person(s) they seem most fit for the position to the Representative Council. The process may sound difficult, but it’s actually quite simple: Just follow this guide on how to apply for a position of trust.

1. Find a position of trust that you like!

There are many different positions of trust at HTS. To see all of them, look around at the website or look at “HTS positions of trust”. You can also talk with the presidium or other active members to find the right match for you. When you find something that seems interesting, read the position description for that position.

If you are interested in applying for the position, you fill out the Google form that the Nomination Committee has put out (which usually can be found here). If the Nomination Committee haven’t put out a form, feel free to email valberedningen@hts.lu.se and tell them which position you are interested in applying for.

2a. Apply for the position

If you find a position that would be perfect for a friend, don’t be shy to nominate them! Send a motivation as to why your friend would be perfect for the position, along with your friend’s full name and email adress. Send this information to valberedningen@hts.lu.se. The Nomination Committee will now send an email to your friend.

2b. Nominate someone you know

You will be invited to an interview when the Nomination Committee has received you candidacy. This is so the Nomination Committee can get to know you and your ideas. Approximately a week after the candidacy time period is over the Nomination Committee will let you know if you have been nominated.

3. Meet the Nomination Committee for an interview

If you were nominated by the Nomination Committee, you will be summoned to the Representative Council. You will be able to present your ideas for the Council and they will have a chance to ask you questions. It is the Representative Council that then elects the position of trust.

If you weren’t nominated by the Nomination Committee and is still interested in the position, there is a possibility to counter-candidate. In the end it is always the Representative Council that elects the positions of trust, regardless of the nominations. You can also counter-candidate directly to the Representative Council if you by any chance missed to send your candidacy to the Nomination Board. To counter-candidate, send an email to ordf@hts.lu.se with a motivation as to why you should be elected to the position.
